Research and Planning - Safe Haven Film Poster
This safe haven film poster suggests that it is a love film because of what likes the two main characters about to kiss. The medium shot of them also includes a beach in the background, what we can see of the beach, it looks isolated and deserted, making them the only two on the beach, a cliché of a romantic film. Included in the poster is the text which informs the audience of the person who produced safe haven also produced dear john, and the not book, two other very successful romantic films within the industry. This information will attract potential viewers making the film popular in the industry. You can infer that this is a romantic film by the stance in which the two characters are in. Another thing that the audience can suggest from the body language of the people is that because they aren't kissing fully, it could represent that something interferes with their love, ie, something bad could happen to them. Maybe even something tragic.
The colours used throughout the poster suggest happiness, love, health and faith as they are bright colours, it looks like it has a white effect on the whole of the image suggesting purity and strength between the couple.
A unique selling point for this film are the characters names which appear on the poster. Showing the audience which actor and actress play in the film, is a big selling point. If they are well known actors it will entice people to watch the film. Therefore having Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough in the poster informs the audience of which well known actors/actresses star in the film.
The text on the poster does not distract any attention away from the picture itself. It is a simple font yet the size of the title acts as its attention. The colour of the text is a similar to tone of the colours which are used in the poster nevertheless, nothing is distracting.
