Research and Planing - Avatar Film Poster Analysis

An instant unique selling point is including both main characters in the film. Engaging the audience into finding out more about the story line and the plot. The overlay of the pictures creates a sort of magical mood. The colours help create this atmosphere. Having both the vatar face and human face almost one suggests that throughout the film their paths cross, and that because of the magical theme, could infer that it is because of love that their characters meet. The colour of the avatars eyes are yellow connoting the happiness that she sees, which could link with the human character and the love aspect.  It could also represent energy and her fulfilling it. The sunset in the background also represents romantic imagery, which suggests to the audience that throughout this fantasy action film, love will play a major role in it.
A unique selling point for this poster, is including the director who has directed terminator 2 and titanic. Titanic is one of the most popular and greatest romantic films of all time, that by including this information it will create popularity and a great fan base helping the film do well within the industry.
The conventions of a fantasy/action film include common themes such as love, make - believe creatures, and supernatural events. The colour of the poster can suggest these themes. For example the blue is a cool colour and also the colour of the avatar which is a make believe creature. The colour of the orange sunset can imply warmth and happiness which is generally included in a love story.  Having so many themes within one film will allow it to do well in the industry. As it is covering different aspects.
