Research and Planning - Empire Magazine : Man of Steel Analysis

This Man of steel poster sells the film by its unique selling point by having Henry Cavill, who star as the main character in the film. People will recognise him for being a successful actor that has starred in other successful films, his most notable include: 'The cold light of day', Immortals', and 'Hellraiser'.
The colours used throughout the poster generally create quite a dark and mysterious mood. These moods are created by the use of dark colours. Dark colours helps keep man of steel the centre of attention. The font used is bold also drawing attention to itself. White is used which can be inferred as being a simple and subtle colour suggesting purity. Which can link into man of steel being true and pure to the people he saves.
The poster infers to the audience that man of steel is powerful as he is standing with his head held high and his shoulders pulled back. The light shining through on the right hand side of the photograph can suggest his authority, power and dependence. The way that superman his as high as the clouds can also be interpreted as him being the greatest and almighty. One of the unique selling points is the protagonist of the film (superman).Having him centred of the poster, will attract an audience and fan base making the film popular and therefore successful within the industry. Another unique selling point, is the title of the film. Naming it 'Man of Steel' makes it stand out more. It is different from superman which has been heard many times before, loosing its effect. The words man of steel creates powerful imagery as though he can fight and save anything. Enticing the audience to see more.
The poster includes the title of the film, the produces, directors and actors, giving the audience an idea of what the film will include and also the plot of the film. The poster links well with the trailer as it suggests action through its imagery, which is what the trailer also does.
