Research and Planning - Man of Steel Poster
Man of Steel is an action genre film. The way the poster implies that it is an action film to its audience is how everything behind superman is blurry. Creating an effect that infers he is going very fast. Every action film has a hero and a villain and in this film, stereotypically like other action genre films superman is the hero. From this poster we can see that superman is flying the sky and over what appears to be a city. This is how we know he is the hero, because he his flying over the city for what we can only assume is to save someone. We see a birds eye view shot of the city however we see just a close up of superman's face. Due to this shot can you then only really appreciate the height in which he is. Which could infer courage which stereotypically a superhero is meant to have. Superman's facial expression suggests that he is serious, and also shows his determination. The use of his facial expression allows the audience to see his courage to save people which is typically what the audience want to see from an action.
A unique selling point for this film is the title of it. Man of steel implies that the main character can face everything and anything and this will engage the audience and make them want to see the film. The poster also shows how superman is very powerful, as the light shining in on the top left hand corner onto his face, the light shining on him infers that he is a positive influence.
The colours of the poster don't distract the audience as they are simple. The name of the director, producers, actors and title of film can be clearly seen. The only thing that really stands out on this poster is superman himself. The red is the most striking colour. It stands out against the dull and boring colours from the city.
The conventions of this poster are similar to the film poster and the main thing is that they both include the title, director, producer and actors, which is the selling point for the film. Therefore, the more that is advertised the more success the film will have within the industry and against other films.
