The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a 2012 American science fiction adventure film. In the hunger games trailer we are introduced to the different characters from the victim to the anotagonist and the protagonist. The narrative of the film is included in the trailer and tells the audience what is going to happen during the film. The equilibrium in the trailer is that the main character appears to be happy and settled, however, just like an action the audience will know that stereotypically her life it suppose to seem this way just before it takes a bad turn. She ends up becoming part of the games and the mise en scene can infer that she is fighting for not only her life but the status and power that comes with it. As everyone else that gets chosen wear similar 'low class' clothing. Implying that these people all come from the same class and status, which conflicts with the equilibrium at the beginning of the trailer.
There is an objective character identification because the trailer builds up tension and makes the audience feel as though they are the main character and are also too taking part in the games. This makes the audience feel engaged and entices them to keep watching. This is a good unique selling point for the film. Because in order to be successful in the filming industry you need to make sure that you engage the audience. Another reason why the audience feel more engaged with the main character is because she has the most screen time and prevalence. She also has voiceovers during the trailer, this will make the audience feel as though she is the protagonist within the film. It would also create a connection between the audience and the main character.
The music in the links with the genre, it is music which builds tension for the audience. Which creates a tense atmosphere, keeping the audience on edge. The music stays the same throughout the trailer.
